ELGIN – Funeral service for Samuel Marion Motley, 85, will be held on Monday at 3:00 p.m. at Sand Hill Heights Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Lanny Brisendine and the Rev. Charles Miller will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to Sand Hill Heights Baptist Church or the Alzheimer’s Foundation. Mr. Motley passed away on Friday, September 19, 2014. Born in Blaney, he was the son of the late John Glen and Lizzie Mae Ross Motley. He retired from DuPont and worked for Spring Valley Air Conditioning. He was a member of Sand Hill Heights Baptist Church where he served as a lifetime Deacon. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Minnie Louise Kirkland Motley; daughter, Cathy Motley-Watts of Elgin; sons, Marion E. Motley (Gail) of Elgin and Michael S. Motley of Elgin; sisters, Shirley Goff, Everett Johnson, Fannie Miles, and Carolyn Hightower; brother, Frank Motley; grandchildren, Travis Motley (Alison), Christy Watts Casey (Michael) and Julie Motley Roach (Matt); and great-grandchildren, Josh and Nick Casey, Jacob, Mason, Ainsley, Eli and Ethan Roach, and Rhett, Bryson and Abby Motley. He was predeceased by sisters, Ruby Kelly and Sylvia Flynn; and brothers, Claude Motley, Harold Motley, Orland Motley, John Henry Motley and Brinton Motley.
