Elgin – Funeral services for David Eugene Wooten, 68, will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Lugoff, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Doug Huntsinger and the Rev. Greg Sweet will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Mr. Wooten passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2014. Born in Columbia, he was a son of the late Clarence Caldwell and Athleen D. Wooten. Mr. Wooten was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and the Drag Racers Association of Pageland. He enjoyed camping, drag racing, and his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Veronica P. Wooten; son, Chris Wooten (Heather) of Lugoff; daughter, Elizabeth “Liz” Wooten of Elgin; grandchildren, Hailey and Brooklyn Wooten; and brothers, Mickey T. Wooten (Francis) of Columbia, and Richard D. Wooten (Brenda) of West Columbia.
