Obituary of John Wesley Jeffords
CAMDEN – Funeral services for John Wesley Jeffords, Sr., 86, will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Camden, with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Phillip Gerrald will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Benevolent Fund, 1201 Broad Street, Camden, S.C. 29020.
Mr. Jeffords, husband of the late Anita Simpson Jeffords, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2014. Born in Florence, he was a son of the late Orion Nathaniel and Emma Ruth Humphrey Jeffords. Mr. Jeffords served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII and retired from DuPont. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Camden, the Kershaw Masonic Lodge, The Jamil Shriners, and the American Legion Post 17. He enjoyed fishing, farming, and traveling.
Surviving are his sons, John Wesley Jeffords II (MaryBeth T.) of Irmo and Brian S. Jeffords (Allison) of Lugoff; daughters, Sheila J. Hall (Dale) of Lugoff and Valerie Jeffords of Portland, OR; grandchildren, Rebecca Hall Kopp (Martin), Benjamin Hall, Grayson Jeffords, Ansley Jeffords, Carson Jeffords and Kaia Imray; and great-grandchildren, Abigail Kopp, Max Kopp and Emma Kopp; and a brother, Franklin Jeffords. He was predeceased by brothers, Wayne and James Jeffords; and sisters, Joann George and Nelva Crouse.
