CAMDEN – Funeral service for Charles Dabney, 79, will be held on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at DeKalb Baptist Church with burial to follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The Rev. Keith Coates will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to DeKalb Baptist Church, 2034 DeKalb School Road, Camden, S.C. 29020. Mr. Dabney passed away on Monday, August 18, 2014. Born in Camden, he was the son of the late Clemmie and Bertha Trimnal Dabney. He retired from DuPont and the South Carolina National Guard. He was a member of DeKalb Baptist Church where he was involved in the men’s outreach ministry. He enjoyed helping others, fishing, and hunting. He was a former volunteer with the Camden Fire Department. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, JoAnn Anderson Dabney; son, Tim Dabney of Camden; daughter, DeeDee Cannon (Jeff) of Camden; sisters, Brenda Martin and Lowrance Morris; brothers, Gerald and Stanley Dabney; and grandchildren, Jared, Adam, Travis, and Clay Jowers. He was predeceased by a son, Chuck Dabney; and brothers, Alvo and Ronnie Dabney.
