Obituary of Van Jackson
Winnsboro – The family of Walter LaVan Jackson, 71, will receive friends on Sunday, January 19, 2025 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in Union Baptist Church Cemetery, Elgin.
Mr. Jackson passed away at MUSC Fairfield on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late Walter Eddie Jackson and Thalia Ann Windham Jackson. He served in the United States Navy and retired from the United States Army National Guard. After military retirement, he worked at McEntire Joint National Guard Base for civil service.
Mr. Jackson was a member of the VFW. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling.
Surviving are his son, Walter LaVan Jackson, Jr. of Elgin; daughter, Amanda Faye Jackson (Robert McKinzie) of Elgin; brother, Michael Cary Jackson (Sheran) of Winnsboro; grandchildren, Baylee Jackson, Walter Graham Jackson, and Christopher Reese Carnes; mother of his children, Debbie Branham; and former spouse, Gail Floyd. He was predeceased by brothers, George Edward Jackson and Robin Alexander Jackson; and his maternal grandmother, Rose Bowen.
