Obituary of Bennie J. Hough

Ulmer – Funeral service for Bennie James Hough, 76, will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Kershaw with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

 

Mr. Hough passed away at home on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.  Born in Kershaw County, S.C., he was the son of the late Alex Lee and Daisy Boatwright Hough. 

 

Bennie was a hard worker.  He worked at St. Joseph Hospital in New Jersey for over 50 years.  Bennie enjoyed going to the flea market, collecting, and making everyone laugh.  Bennie’s favorite saying was “I’ve been blessed by the best, and the heck with the rest”.

 

Surviving are his children, Andre Davis (Dancy) of Paterson, N.J., Gerard Beamon (Nancy) of Paterson, N.J., Shlicia Davis of Paterson, N.J., Regina Hough Harley (Mario) of Ulmer, S.C., Nikki Hough of Paterson, N.J., Chiquita Lee (Otis) of Allendale, S.C., and Tasha Hough of Patterson, N.J.; sisters, Elease Platts of Columbia, Mabel Harper of Warrenton, N.C., and Annie Bell Baskin of Bethune; brother, Alex Hough, Jr. (Sarah) of Bethune; 14 grandchildren; and loving great-grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by sisters, Claudia Mae Smith and Henrietta White; and brother, Walter Hough.
