Obituary of Fred Thomas Singleton
Elgin – Funeral service for Fred Thomas Singleton, 66, will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The burial will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 3:30 p.m. in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Savannah, Ga. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project or the American Cancer Society.
Mr. Singleton passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at MUSC Kershaw Health Medical Center. Born in Chester, Pa., he was the son of the late Jack and Euna Agnes Kettlewood Singleton. He retired from the United States Army after 20 years of service. He was an auto mechanic and enjoyed trains, golfing and bowling.
Fred also, bowled 2 – 300 games in his lifetime at Century Lanes, Fort Jackson.
Surviving are his wife, Darlene Mae Yopp Singleton; sons, Joe Wilson of Elgin and Michael Wilson (Rhoda) of Spartanburg; step-daughter, Deliverance Race of Lugoff; step-son, Roger Race, Jr. of Elgin; brothers, Harry Singleton and Jeffrey Singleton; sister, Bonnie Singleton McKee; and 17 grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with his two granddaughters, Jessica Wilson and McKenzie Benavidez; and his 4 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Frances Maria Galimi Singleton; a brother, Jack Singleton; and sister, Euna Singleton.
