Obituary of Jean Chewning Keziah

Jean Chewning Keziah, 88, widow of Hayne Hugh Keziah, passed away December 26, 2024, after an extended illness. Her parents were Joseph Warner Chewning and Martha Barfield Chewning, both of Lee County, SC.

She is survived by daughters Beverly K. Blalock (Alec), Rhonda Keziah- Smith (Luke), and her sister Judy C Logan. (J. R.), granddaughter Brooke Bradshaw (Josh), and great-grandsons Brady and Brayden Bradshaw, step- granddaughters Elizabeth Duncan, (Brett), and Kelly B. Crayne, and step-great grandchildren Bailey Hall (Shane), Joseph Crayne, Hunter Crayne, and Alysia Madera.

Jean Keziah lived a life of humble simplicity, finding joy in her extended close-knit family and her life-long service to her beloved St. Andrew Church of God. She was educated in the Lee County Public School System, finishing at Ashwood Central. Jean learned to love basketball when she played in high school and was a dedicated USC fan, especially the Lady Gamecocks. Jean was best known for her compassionate, kind, gentle nature. She fulfilled the gospel message of Jesus by always giving without recognition. Jean was an exemplar of a Proverbs 31woman. Her daughters and a host of family and community will always cherish the difference she made in their lives.

Visitors are encouraged to meet in the Fellowship Hall for visitation on Monday, December 30, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service to be held in the sanctuary at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Scott Hodge will officiate and Lawrence Chewning will provide the music.  Pallbearers will be Wayne Brown, Johnnie Logan, Warner Logan, Hugh Logan, Stephen Corbett and Josh Bradshaw.  Honorary pallbearers will be Brady Bradshaw and Brayden Bradshaw.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Andrew Church of God, 4238 Red Hill Road, Camden, S.C.  29020.

The family will always remember and appreciate not only the outstanding professional care of Karesh Long Term Health Care Rehabilitation, but the outpouring of love they expressed for Jean.
