Joseph Alexander Baker, 50, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024. Born in Albuquerque, NM, on December 26, 1973, he was the son of the late Alexander and Marguerite McCumber Baker. He enjoyed Shooting Pool at Racks and was a member of the APA Pool League. He also enjoyed watching football, specifically the Carolina Gamecocks and Coastal Carolina, working on Cars and throwing the ball with Rein. He was known for being a great cook and loved to Grill. But above all else what he enjoyed most was being with his beloved family.
Left to cherish his memories is his wife of 25 years, Dawn Michele Bergeron Baker; daughter, Alicia Marie Baker of Elgin, SC; sister, Helen Sprigg (William) of Spokane, WA; father-in-law, Paul Bergeron of Elgin, SC; sister-in-law, Ashley Divers (Patrick) of Lugoff, SC; brother-in-law, Wilson Merchant (Christy) of Lake Worth, FL; nieces, Laura Evans (Terry) of Columbia, SC, Emmarie Divers of Lugoff, SC; nephews, Austin Divers of Lugoff, SC, David Mathews, (Allison) of Columbia, SC, Brandon Mathews of Columbia, SC Kai Merchant of Lake Worth, FL and Bryce Mathews of Columbia, SC; and fur babies, Brewster, Pip, and Rein.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Mathews.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, December 23, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Powers Funeral Home in Lugoff, SC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The Rev. Todd Horton will be officiating.
