Obituary of Thedus Hayes Shealy

Thedus Marie Jackson Hayes Shealy, 87, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024. Born on April 9, 1937, in Lee County, SC, she was the daughter of George Jackson and Eunice Trimnal Jackson. She was a Lab technician at Dupont in Lugoff before retiring. She enjoyed dancing, raising her children and grandchildren, and traveling. 

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Thomas “Tommy” Hayes Jr. (Holly) of Beaver Creek, Cheryl Diane Griffiths (Mark) of Camden, Angie Hayes Wilson of Camden, and Janet Marie Epps (Tim) of Lake Wateree; stepdaughter, Cheryl Shealy; a brother, Fronice Jackson; 22 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren.

She was also predeceased by her first husband, Thomas E. Hayes Sr.; second husband, David Shealy; sons, Ronald “Ronnie” Eugene Hayes, Russell Byron “Buddy” Hayes, Christopher Dale “Chris” Hayes; grandson, Tanner Hayes; great grandson, Chase Newman; brothers, Curtis Jackson, Carl Jackson, and J.B. Jackson; sister, Freeda Hunter; and companion, Bill Simon.

A funeral service honoring the life of Mrs. Hayes-Shealy will be held Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home in Lugoff, S.C., with burial to follow in Mizpah Baptist Church Cemetery, Camden.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
