ELGIN – A Mass of Christian Burial for Manuel Angel Santana, 68, will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Father Sandy McDonald will officiate. Final Commendation and Farewell Prayers will be in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff Mr. Santana died on Tuesday, August 12, 2014. Born in Utuado, Puerto Rico, he was the son of Juan A. Santana and the late Pura Montero Santana. He retired from The United States Army after 20 years of special forces service. He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church. His greatest hobby was spending time with his family. Surviving are his wife, Lucia Solis Santana; daughters, Maria Ortiz and Lucy Esparza; son, Roberto Santana; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
