Obituary of Wanda Smith Ray

CASSATT – A graveside service for Wanda Smith Ray, 70, will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 1:00 pm in Cassatt Baptist Church cemetery. Pastor Steve Lee will officiate. The family will receive friends following the burial at the family home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Elder Care Trust Fund, South Carolina Department on Aging, 1301 Gervais Street, Suite 350, Columbia SC 29201.

     Mrs. Ray passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2024. Born in Camden, she was the daughter of the late Edward Smith and Betty Jordan Smith. She was a good wife and mother who was dedicated to her family, proud of her grandchildren, and loved her dogs.

    Surviving is her husband, Lester Earl Ray, Sr.; daughter, Crystal Ray (fiancé, Steven Bowers); grandchildren, Tripp Ray, Heather Ray, Kali Tomlin, and Bre Tomlin; siblings, Charlie Ramsey, Cathy Fulkenberry (Dennis), Carolyn Cantey, Debbie Baker, and Gene Smith (Patty); brother-in-law, Roger Hood. She was predeceased by her son, Lester Earl “Nucky” Ray, Jr.; biological parents, James Boulware (Linda) and Emily Case; adoptive parents, Edward Smith and Betty Jordan Smith; sisters, Sandra Hood and Ann Ray (Lynn).
