Obituary of Sennie Mae Myers
Sennie Mae Myers, formally Sennie M. Stewart, was born October 4, 1953, in Rembert, South Carolina and was the beloved youngest daughter of the late Ellen Kendrick Stewart and Jimmy Stewart. She departed this life on Thursday, October 31, 2024.
Sennie, affectionately known as “Cindy”, accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. Cindy spent much of her adolescent years in Rochester, New York and Baltimore, Maryland with her late aunt, Josephine “Omman” Brisbon and late cousin, Gertrude Ledbetter.
Sennie graduated with a high school diploma in 1973 from Camden High School. After graduating high school, Cindy was a very family orientated woman that stayed in Rembert, South Carolina. She worked as a caregiver for many friends and family, helping to raise her nieces, nephews and cousins, until she saved enough money to move to Philadelphia with her sisters in the late 1970’s. She soon became a garment worker making baby clothes at Penny Pack Garment Company. In a few short years, while working she had her first child Karnice E.“Stewart” Hardwick.
In 1983, she met the late Samuel L. Myers and soon after was united in holy matrimony in 1985. This union was blessed with three more children, Nikia M. “Myers” Green, Aaron L. Myers and Sherell C. Myers. Through the years with Samuel, she was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker and they enjoyed hosting family and friends and traveling south for the summer.
Sennie enjoyed playing Bingo, bowling, cooking and spending time with her loved ones. She loved talking to family and friends for countless hours on the phone. She had a laugh that was so infectious that it made you want to laugh too. She would give you the shirt off her back, if she could.
Sennie leaves to cherish her life four children, Karnice Stewart Hardwick (Micheal), Nikia Myers Green (Antoine Sr.), Aaron Myers (Lynea), and Sherell Myers; one sister, Beulah Lawson; two brothers, James Stewart Jr. and Rodney Stewart; seventeen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Nelia Mae Stewart; one aunt who resides in Rembert, South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church in Rembert, S.C. with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
