Obituary of Billy Ward

Cassatt – William Byrum Cowan “Billy” Ward, 76, of Cassatt and formally from Blythewood, S.C passed away unexpectedly Sunday, October 27, 2024.  Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late Curtis E. Ward and Millie Eulala Maples Ward. 

 

He was a proud United States Air Force Veteran, where he specialized as an Aircraft Power Plants Mechanic.  After his discharge he owned an automotive alignment shop (Billy’s Alignment) and worked at several other places so he could work with his hands.  He was a talented knife maker and loved riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle.

 

He is survived by his son, William R. Ward (Melanie) of Fredericksburg, Va.; daughter, Elizabeth Ward of Maryland; grandchildren, William Ward, Jackson Ward, Xavier Hoffman, Luke Hoffman, and Dominic Hoffman; sister, Curtys Quesinberry (Danny) of Columbia, S.C.; brother, Curtis L. Ward (Eve) of Blythewood, S.C.; niece, Danielle Yarborough, nephews, Marshall Quesinberry, Tom Hagood, Allen Hagood, Brandon Ward, and Ben Ward; many great-nieces and nephews; and a host of beloved cousins.  He was predeceased by a sister, Betty Hagood; and a nephew, Frank Hagood.

 

Funeral service for will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Spring Valley Baptist Church, Columbia, with burial to follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to DVBIC, Silver Springs Metro Center 1, 1335 East-West Hwy, Suite 6-100, Silver Springs, MD  20910.
