Obituary of Alex "Buddy" Robinson, Sr.

LUGOFF- A funeral service for Alex “Buddy” Robinson, Sr., will be held Monday, September 30, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Lancaster Memorial Park. The Rev. Phil McCoy will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

    Mr. Robinson passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2024. Born in Lancaster, he was a son of the late TD Robinson and Laura Maude Robinson. Mr. Robinson became a deacon at Ebenezer Baptist Church in 1962. He was currently a member of Rowan Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and elder. He was a member of the Grand Lodge of Free Masons and a Shriner of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine. His passion was work, he owned and managed IGA stores and was once the IGA Grocer of the year. He also was a avid golfer, especially in his retirement age. As a young gentleman and scholar, he also received his pilot’s license. Mr. Robinson was kind, accepting of all people, respectful and gracious. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, traveling, gardening and was hard working.

    Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Frances Crook Robinson; daughter, Crystal V. Robinson (Sonya Dickey); grandchildren, Sean Robinson (Catherine), Kevin Robinson (Tabitha), Brandon Robinson, Alexis Windham (Brandon), Allison Watt (Sean), Danyelle Robinson; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Alex Buddy Robinson, Jr.; and siblings, Edith Gunter and Betty Jean Robinson.
