Gwendolyn Cole Stines

LUGOFF- A funeral service to celebrate the life of Gwendolyn Cole “Gwen” Stines, 79, will be held Friday at 3:00 p.m. at El-Bethel Faith Community Church with burial to follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Jay Keith will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to El-Bethel Faith Community Church. The family will receive friends at the home of Tony and Michelle Stines at 20 Sixty Oaks Lane, Elgin, SC, 29045.

Mrs. Stines went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 26, 2024. Born in Charleston, SC, she was a daughter of the late Ernest Wilson Cole and Viola Hunter Cole. Mrs. Stines retired from Kershaw Health Medical Center, where she worked in the business office. She was a faithful member of El Bethel Faith Community Church, where she served with her husband who was the pastor for over 18 years. She enjoyed gospel singings, eating out with their social club, going to Walmart, spending time in Maggie Valley where they enjoyed their retirement years and her dog, Fred.

Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Rev. Joe Stines; son, Joseph Anthony “Tony” Stines (Michelle) of Elgin, SC; grandchildren, Hunter Stines and (Carley Stubbs) of Irmo, SC and Harper Stines of Elgin, SC; sisters, Delores C Wilson of Cleveland, OH and Deborah Dunlap (Jim) of Hockessin, DE; brother-in-law, David Stines (Kathy); three special people she called children, Julie Keith, Libby Jarrett and Gregg Gardner; and a special couple, Benny and Sandra Laney.

She was predeceased by her sister-in-law, Margaret S. Rodgers.
