CAMDEN – Funeral services for Betty Jo Crump Mays, R.N., 76, will be held Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at New Life Christian Outreach, Lugoff, with burial to follow in Scotch Cemetery, Bethune. The Rev. Richard Cameron will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday, July 25, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Mrs. Mays passed away graciously after a heroic battle with four separate cancers on Thursday, July 24, 2014. Born on July 28, 1937 in Pineville, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Robert E. Lee and Ruby Reavis Crump. Mrs. Mays was a member of Northgate Colonial Baptist Church. She is a 1959 graduate of the Kershaw County Hospital School of Nursing, and worked as a Registered Nurse for over 25 years. Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Robert K. Mays; sons, Kirk Mays (Begee) of Camden, Michael W. Mays of Lugoff; daughter Susan Mays Haynes (Paul) of Camden; sister, Barbara Kropp (Calvin) of Cashiers, N.C.; 5 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.
