Obituary of Patricia King "Pat" Mims

COLUMBIA- A celebration of life service for Patricia King “Pat” Mims, 75, will be held Friday, July 26, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Martin’s In-The-Fields Episcopal Church with burial to follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The Rev. Mitchell Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Epworth Children’s Home.

    Mrs. Mims passed away on July 21, 2024. Born on January 30, 1949, she was a daughter of the late James Brantley and Rae Stokes King. Pat was a member of St. Martin’s In-The-Fields Episcopal Church. She served as a school teacher while also being a military spouse and devoted mother. Pat enjoyed reading, painting, and poetry. She wrote several poems and had some of them published.

    Pat was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who loved her family immensely and loved her dogs. She enjoyed boating with family and friends and walking on the beach.

    Surviving are her devoted husband of 55 years, Rev. John Mims; daughters, Sheila Mims (Phillip Mims), Sherri Mims (Marc Anglade); a brother, James Brantley “Jim” King, Jr., of Edisto Beach; and grandchildren, Hallie Anglade, Phillip Justin Mims, Sydney Renee Mims.
