Obituary of John Frederick Williams

CASSATT-John Frederick Williams, known affectionally as Johnny, passed away on June 27, 2024, at the age of 59, in his hometown of Camden, South Carolina. Born on February 3, 1965, in Camden, he was a proud and confident individual who embraced life with vigor and determination.

Johnny spent over 25 years as a dedicated contractor, a career that reflected his hardworking nature and desire to help others.

 He was a man of many interests, including fishing, traveling, and playing guitar. Johnny also loved to sing karaoke to Elvis Presley songs, which he often showcased during gatherings, much to the delight of his friends and family. His hobbies were not just pastimes but a significant part of who he was, bringing joy to both himself and those around him.

He leaves behind a loving family: his parents, Ola Mae Williams and Arthur Williams; his siblings, Connie Sirovica (Scott) and Sharla Shirey (Edward); his daughters, Ashley Mills and Nichole Williams-Reed; adopted daughter, Christa Neal (Jack); grandchildren, Star and Antonio; as well as his nephews and nieces, Dustin Mitchell (Kailey), Samuel Shirey (Sheila), and William Sirovica; great nephew, Ryder Mitchell, former spouse, Marilyn Williams, and beloved pet, Bella. Johnny was preceded in death by his son, Nicholas Williams-Reed.

Johnny's life was one of vibrant engagement with the world around him. His legacy is carried forward not just in his achievements and personal hobbies but most importantly, through the love and memories shared with his family and friends. He will be remembered as a strong-willed, free-spirited soul who lived life to the fullest, worked hard, and loved the best he could, with special affection for his mother, Ola.

A celebration of life service for John Frederick Williams will be held Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at DeKalb Baptist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3-4 p.m. The family is in charge of the arrangements. Due to the sudden nature of his passing, we are asking those who can contribute to share and donate to the family as you feel called.
