Obituary of Mae Helen Blackmon Seegars

A celebration of life service for Mae Helen Seegars, 71, will be held Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Sandy Grove United Methodist Church in Jefferson, SC. With burial to follow in the church cemetery. Pastor Loretta Cooper will be officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 21, 2024 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff SC.

Mae Helen, wife of the late Johnnie Seegars, went to spend eternity with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, June 16, 2024. Born in Norfolk, VA, she was the daughter of the late Alma and Eulice ‘Bud’ Blackmon. Mae worked as a caretaker for many years and enjoyed providing companionship to sick and elderly clients as well as comfort to their families during difficult times. Outside of work, Mae enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, rooting for the Dallas Cowboys and the Lady Gamecocks, and being a source of endless love and support for a host of family and friends who will miss her dearly.

Mae, is survived by her children; Stanley (Deshone) Seegars, Betty Bivens, Russell Blackmon, Janet McCaskill, Debra Blackmon, Pamela (Valas) Hough and Jeremy Blackmon; her siblings, seven brothers, Leander ‘Lee Bo’ (Donna) Blackmon, Roscoe Blackmon, Bobby (Lavern) Blackmon, Buddy Blackmon, Albert (Regina) Blackmon, Tony Blackmon, and two sisters, Eunice Jones and Carolyn (JC) Void; two bonus sisters, Tina (William) Jackson and Nora (Dennis) Miller; a bonus brother, Micheal Young; 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; and several special family friends, the McPhearson family, the Bridges family, the Blackmon family and Rita Gay. 

In addition to her husband and parents, Mae is preceded in death by two brothers and a grandson.
