Obituary of Joanne Ash

ELGIN - A funeral service for Joanne Ash, 79, will be held Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens. A public viewing will be held Friday, June 14, 2024 from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Ms. Ash passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Monday, June 3, 2024. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Joe Dixon and Annie Mae Thomas. Ms. Ash enjoyed shopping, doing word puzzles, cooking and being surrounded by her family and friends.

    Surviving are her daughters, Yvonne McQueen (Charles) of Brooklyn, N.Y., Yvette Ash of Kershaw, S.C., Elaine Ash of Brooklyn, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Lamont Thomas; and a grandson, Corey Murdaugh.
