Obituary of Theodore "Ted" Schmidt

RIDGEWAY- A memorial service for Theodore O. “Ted” Schmidt, 74, will be held Thursday, July 25, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The Rev. Roy M. Butler will officiate. The family will receive friends 1hr prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a Diabetic Association, the Boy Scouts of America, or the American Heart Association.

    Mr. Schmidt passed away on June 3, 2024. Born in El Paso, TX, he was a son of the late Marvin Benjamin Charles Schmidt and Aguda Medell Schmidt. Mr. Schmidt was a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church, a lifetime member of Masonic Lodge 29, and a lifelong member of the Boy Scouts of America. He also served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam Veteran.

    Surviving are his siblings, Christine Arledge (Willis) of Columbia, Ralph Charles Schmidt (Linda) of Columbia, Ella Suzanne Leach of Las Vegas; nieces, Kimberly Moses (Sam), Cindy Leach, Jenny Leach; nephews, Joshua Cline (Bethany), Charlie Cline (Lauren), Amiee Hicks (Whitley) and Haley Schmidt; and great nephews and nieces.  He was predeceased by a sister, Rose Marie Edmonds.
