Obituary of Jackie T. Lyles

CAMDEN – A service to celebrate the life of Jackie Thurlo Lyles, 76, will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at Lugoff Church of God.  The Rev. Tim Shirley will officiate.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.  Memorials may be made to The Bread of Life Orphanage in Romania.

Mr. Lyles passed away at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.  Born in Camden, S.C., he was the son of the late Jack Leo and Ruth Elizabeth Young Lyles.  He served in the United States Marine Corp and retired from Tax preparation / Bookkeeping.  He was a member of Lugoff Church of God where he served as the church clerk for over 30 years.  He was a member of the Marine Corp League and Sons of the Confederacy.  Mr. Lyles was a history buff  and loved to tell jokes.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 34 years, Wanda Ruth Tidwell Lyles; step-children, Tammy Bennett of Lugoff and Gary “Sam” Jeffers of Columbia; brother, Glenn Lyles (Barbara) of Camden; sister, Libby Jeffers of Lugoff; grandchildren, Matthew Arnold (Kendal) and Austin Bennett; and great-grandchildren, Bella Bennett and Brady Bennett.  He will be missed by his beloved dog, Ginger and his cat, Polly.
