Obituary of Jon C. Belk
LEXINGTON – Funeral service for Jon Claude Belk, 52, will be held Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 3:00-5:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306.
Mr. Belk passed away Sunday, April 28, 2024 at his home. Born in Camden, he was the son of Patricia Ann Jay Belk and the late Claude LeRoy Belk. He was a 1990 graduate of Lugoff-Elgin High School where he wrestled and played football and won numerous championships. He received a bachelor’s degree from Charleston Southern University in 1995 and went on to serve in the United States Army Artillery for 4 years. Jon’s passion was coaching football and wrestling and volunteered at Ryle High School. He was an avid Gamecock fan.
Surviving are his children, Jon C. Belk (Sarah) of Kentucky, Emma S. Belk of Kentucky and Jackson C. Belk of Kentucky; mother, Pat Belk of Lugoff; sister, Sheila Branham (Bennie) of Elgin; grandchildren, Maddox R. Belk and Tatum R. Belk; former wife, Wendi L. Belk; companion, Laurrie Summers; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
