Mr. Baxley took care of my father in law Adolphus Heath in his legal matters. Personally I was Burkes t balk coach. When Burke passed we got a ball and had all the kids sign the ball. I was given the honor of presenting the ball to Mr. Baxley. He and I cried in the driveway remembering Burke. I learned a lot that day I don't think I felt pain and hope as much since that day. He was a great man.

It's many years since I shared a workplace with John, and Charles and Rose Marie, but I would hope that I may be remembered enough to send sincere commiserations to Judy and family and John and family on the death of Charles. I have moved to Senior Living in Southern Pines in North Carolina but still remain in touch with friends who pass on news of events in Camden. I know Charles will be remembered by many and I would wish to be included in this large group. Beryl Kay, a long term employee (and I hope 'friend of Charles'.

Charles was an impressive man with a great mind and a kind disposition. Although our spheres of life were separated by the atlantic ocean, we have stayed in touch over 55 years. Whenever we met in person, it felt like we had never been apart that long. We were impressed by his wide range of interests and involvement in various projects.
He will always be in our hearts.

I am so very sad to learn of this. I was blessed to have known Charles as a friend since the late 60’s and then as my Attorney. He was a kind and gentle soul. He will be missed by every life he touched. Prayers for his family and especially his grandchildren who he dearly loved and talked about with a big smile on his face.
RIP my friend!

Charles was a titan on earth, a tall walker who walked amongst the human race's history to end the rule by one and family and create the United Colonies, where elections began to occur. Other nations across Earth quickly followed this new system. Charles spent his time here adoring, crafting, showcasing new features about, and sharing that worldwide.
His invigorating style of reporting was not typically shown by the highest of authorities - he simply paid for and did it with his friends. And as people from all over the continents became aware of it, they stated, "The references, research, study, and grammar are stunning and captivating."
Everyone knows about Britannica, the Smithsonian, the Library of Congress, Harvard, USC, Clemson, and Cambridge. But if you wanted the good stuff - you went to Charles's websites. That's where it really was.
As a Presidential Aide, Southern Revolutionary War historian, and White House Chef who completed two Master's degrees and lived in Europe and Asia for many years, I held Charles in the highest regard. Anyone who asked me was told - go here, go to gold vault of Charle's Baxley.
I'm looking forward to spending a lot of time with him - endless years of talking and finally knowing every battle movement, every letter, every order, every command given, and the ones not executed - everything we spent decades looking for. He now knows it all and finally has completed his quest - he has all of God's answers and the master encyclopedia on the war.

What a loss to his family and the community,,his knowledge, and his presence to so many near and far will missed. I remember Charles as far back as a customer at City Drug Store in the middle 60.s with his many visits while i worked there in high school. Most recently Charles closed on my house in 2017 when i moved back to Camden.I last spoke with him at Michael Norwood's funeral..Charles Obit shares the type of person he was:a smart, intelligent, caring for family, the community and leaving lots of history for all to read and learn from.
My condolences go out to his family. He will be missed by so many in so many ways.I am sorry for your and our loss!

I'm terribly saddened by the passing of this great man. I remain in awe of the breadth of his knowledge, the depth of his commitments, the abundance of his contributions. I can think of no one, at any level, who has done more to encourage the study of South Carolina's Revolutionary heritage, and to disperse the results of that study. He built the frameworks which so many others were able subsequently to use. All of us will miss him.

We were blessed to know Charles for 50 years. He was a very good man. His family and friends have much to cherish about his wisdom and celebrate his love for them. Charles freely gave his many talents to Kershaw County, and others, without asking anything in return. Everyone has been blessed by his many contributions. We are thankful for him and his impact upon our lives.

I considered Charles to be my best friend, and even though I may not have been his, he certainly made you feel like it when you were with him. Little did I know in the fall of 2004 how my life would change when I met Charles and joined the SCAR community, from which hundreds of friendships grew. When Charles asked you do to something, such as research, help with a round-table, or corps of discovery you never hesitated because you wanted to do it, for him, just because he asked you. You did it because it meant he trusted you, believed you could do the task, and valued your skills and knowledge. I have never meet anyone else like him - he was a rare natural and effective leader of people. To the Baxley family, thanks so much for sharing Charles with us. I will miss him tremendously, but I will remember his friendship fondly every single day.

I learned that all lawyers are not bad people(MD speaking), and some know more than what's in any library. I first met Charlie at a Francis Marion tour that he led. He knew every old road and historical spot, and I was intensely impressed with what he knew. I wanted more and this started me on my study of the Revolutionary War. I kept looking for some information he did not know and it became a Don Quixote quest which was quite futile. I would go up to him with a sly quirk on my face, only to be humbled. I still have a couple I was going to spring on him, that I now will keep to myself. I will miss him.
