Leslie Ray West, Sr., 82, of Elgin, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024. Born in Jones County, NC, he was the son of the late Earl Oliver and Alma Jarman West and the husband of Brenda Richardson West. Ray was a US Army veteran and retired from the furniture industry after over 40 years. After his retirement, he worked as a bus driver for Richland School District II. Above all, Ray was a devoted follower of Christ who loved his family dearly. His faith and his family were always at the center of his life.

In addition to his loving wife, Ray is survived by his children, Chris West (Chassidy), Matt West (Kristina), Mark West (Gina), Leslie West, Jr. (Barbara), Tony West (Kelly), and Tim West; his siblings, Robert Earl West (Marie), Charles Linwood West (Judy), Doris Jean English (June), Carl Douglas West (Kris), and Danny Allen West (Elizabeth); as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by two siblings, Edward Oliver West and Sandra Gail Maxwell.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, March 18, 2024 at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service.
