Obituary of John Thomas Erickson, Jr

John Thomas Erickson, Jr., 53, of Lugoff, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024. Born on Myrtle Beach AFB, he was the son of John Thomas Erickson, Sr. and the late Edith C. Erickson and the husband of Holly Clark Erickson. John worked as a Quality Engineer and Manager for FN America. He loved music and attended many concerts. Among his favorites were The Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, and Bluegrass music. John also taught himself to play the piano, the bass guitar, and the banjo. He was a skilled artist and enjoyed making models, everything from planes and trains to Star Wars and Star Trek. He also had a passion for all things Christmas, dinosaurs, and Volkswagen buses, of which he owned three. John enjoyed camping and mountain biking with his friends. He was a wonderful son, a devoted husband, and a loving father with a great sense of humor who always enjoyed making people laugh.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by his son, Shaun Erickson; his father, John Thomas Erickson, Sr.; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members.

John was preceded in death by his mother, Edith Challis Erickson.

The family will receive friends from 5-8pm on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, February 26, 2024 at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Burial will follow in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens, Elgin, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in John’s honor to the American Cancer Society, www.donate.cancer.org.
