Obituary of John Thomas Caughman

Spring Hill – A service to celebrate the life of John Thomas Caughman, 48, will be held on Thursday, February 8th, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. at St. Andrews Church of God.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Andrews Church of God Youth Program or Lee County Animal Shelter.

John passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024 and continued serving his fellow man by being a vital organ donor.  Born in Sumter, S.C., he was the son of Johnette McCutchen Caughman and the late Wayne Thomas Caughman.  He was the Director of Elections for the Kershaw County Voters Registration.  He was a faith member of St. Andrews Church of God where he formerly taught children’s Sunday school, children’s church and drove the church bus.  John enjoyed computers and reading science fiction.

Surviving are his mother, Johnette McCutchen Caughman of Rembert; brother, Reggie Caughman (Kayla) of Sumter; and niece. Laney Caughman. He was predeceased by paternal grandparents, Tom and Lula Caughman; and maternal grandparents, Sam and Frances McCutchen.
