Obituary of Ellen Watts Johnson

LUGOFF- Ellen Watts Johnson, 96, of Lugoff, S. C., passed away quietly on February 3, 2024 at McLeod Hospice House, Florence, S.C. Mrs. Johnson was born in Hartsville, S.C. on December 30, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Thurlow Caskill Watts and Nettie Woodward Watts. She was retired from Farm Credit Bank Regional Computer Service. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Camden, S.C., where she was active in Sunday School, Women on Missions, Silvertone Choir, and Young at Heart. She was a member of the John D. Kennedy chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Auxiliary of the Woodmen of the World, and the Eastern Star.

    She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 68 years, Aruthur Lee Johnson. She is survived by daughters, Dr. Victoria Johnson Killen (James Thomas Killen, III) of York, S.C., Deborah Ellen Johnson of Florence, S.C.; a son, Patrick Lee Johnson (Pamela Johnson) of Spring Hill, FL; seven grandchildren, James Thomas Killen IV, Victoria Elizabeth Miles, Anne Katharine Pratt, Hope Mims Green, Bryan Patrick Johnson, Paul Whitfield Johnson, Rachel Ellen Johnson; and 11 great-grandchildren, Madison Killen, Jordan Killen, James Thomas Killen V, Cross Killen, Carolina Miles, Emmett Miles, Charlie Miles, George Pratt, Noah Ard, Dustin Ard and Abrianna Johnson.

     A celebration of life service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Camden. The Rev. Philip Gerrald will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service in the church sanctuary. A private burial will be held in Magnolia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to McLeod Hospice House at McLeod Health Foundation, PO BOX 100551, Florence SC 29502-0551.
