Obituary of Jackie Kirkland
Jacqueline “Jackie” Hutchinson Kirkland, 85, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024. Born July 29, 1938 in Richmond County, NC, she was the daughter of the late John Calvin Hutchinson and Wincie McDonald Hutchinson. Mrs. Kirkland had a remarkable sense of humor and would often be the first to giggle at her own jokes. Pampering was a must for her with weekly hair and nail appointments. She had an arranged time at 1:00 everyday to watch her “stories”, it was known to her family and friends not to call her at that time. She was a loving and protective mother and grandmother as she took joy in tracking her children and grandchildren on find my iphone to know their where abouts. She looked forward to fellowshipping over a meal and going with a group of friends every Friday at 9:00 am to eat breakfast and enjoy each other’s company. Lastly, she enjoyed cooking and took special request for her famous 7 layer cookies, biscuits and cakes. She was a dedicated volunteer in the Concord Baptist Church Food Pantry and Sacks of Love where she was an active member for over 60 years. She also was a loyal volunteer for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. She was instrumental in establishing the Outpost Food Mart with her beloved husband, Perry.
Left to cherish her memories is her son, Steve D. Kirkland (Cindy) of Lugoff, SC; daughter, Rochelle Potter (Danny) of Belmont, NC; sister, Betty McDaniel (Burney) of Orangeburg, SC; brother-in-law, Mike Kelly of Camden, SC; grandchildren, Caitlyn Boulware (CJ), Hunter Kirkland, Ethan Kirkland (Chase), Perri Gross (Taylor), Carson Potter (Alejandra Villalpando); great-grandchildren, Natalie Boulware, Madelyn Boulware, and Asa Gross.
A funeral service will be held Friday, February 02, 2024 at 3:00 pm at Concord Baptist Church in Lugoff. A burial will take place in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 01, 2024 from 5:00 -7:00 pm at Powers funeral Home in Lugoff, SC.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Concord Baptist Church Food Pantry or American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
