Obituary of Sonja Smith

LUGOFF – A service to celebrate the life of Sonja Elaine Dority Smith, 70, will be held on Monday, January 29, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church.  The Rev. Eric Boone and the Rev. Jack Hair will officiate.  The family will receive friends Monday 2:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideon’s International.

Mrs. Smith passed away at home surrounded by her family on Friday, January 26, 2024.  Born in Hartsville, she was the daughter of the late Willie B. Dority and Virgina Mae Reid Skinner.  She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.  Mrs. Smith enjoyed quilting and was a member of Quilters of Kershaw County.  She was a faithful and dedicated wife and mother, but her greatest joy was her grandchildren.

Surviving are her husband of 45 years, Carl Marion Smith; children, Christopher Wayne Smith (Shannon) of Lugoff, Bryan Keith Smith (Jenny) of Camden and Kimberly Smith Hair (Jack) of Lugoff; brother, Jim Dority (Pat) of Raleigh, N.C.; Marie Rogers of Fernandina Beach, Fla. and Robin Watson (Jerry) of Bishopville; and grandchildren, Amber Grace Smith, Andrew Hair, Brinley Hair, Christian Smith, Shelby Smith, Lydia Hair and Everly Smith.
