Obituary of Geri DeSousa
Geraldine Marie DeSousa, 68, of Cassatt, and formerly of East Wareham, MA, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024. Born in New Bedford, MA, she was the daughter of the late Paulo and Ruth Andrade and the wife of Luis F. DeSousa. Geri was a skilled photographer, capturing photos for the Carolina Cup, the Camden Fine Arts Center, and the Kershaw County Humane Society for many years. She also had a passion for animals, especially horses, and worked as a Veterinarian Technician for many years as well. She enjoyed crafting, sewing, and traveling, often taking day trips to the beach and vacations to Disney World and Sanibel Island. Geri also loved nature, whether she was photographing wildflowers or tending to her own garden. She was a great cook, an inspired interior decorator, and was affectionately known as a ‘fashionista’ by her family and friends. She loved her country music, bargain hunting at various antique stores and garage sales, and spending summer afternoons in the pool at her house. Above all, Geri loved her friends and family dearly and cherished spending time with them.
In addition to her husband, Geri is survived by her daughter, Chloe DeSousa (Nathan); her sister, Christine Andrade (Joseph); and her best friend, Mary Louise LeVeen.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service.
