Doris was one who touched many lives! She wore many hats in her life; a mother, a nanny, a friend, a nurse, a teacher-preschool and adult education! She was known for her determination and unconditional love! She lived life to the fullest and was a world traveler but knew her heart was always at home!
Doris enjoyed reading and leaves a legacy of love, determination, compassion, knowledge, and was always radiating positivity! Not only was she a psych nurse, but she loved how the mind worked. She had an indescribable love for nursing and impacted her career by instilling knowledge and compassion in her students! She had a special passion for teaching, even in her death by gifting her body to the USC School of Medicine Body Donation Program to further educate medical students.
Surviving are her children, Karen Gainey, Janet Hewitt (Byron), Jeff Gainey (Susan), Beverly Cassady (Tony); bonus child, Larry Jones; brother Samuel Walden; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a lifelong friend and co-worker, Cathy Reger. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by children, Travis Gainey, Mark Gainey; a grandson, Joe Gainey; and siblings, Alvin Walden, Donald Walden, and Macey Walden.
