Mrs. Davis was born in Camden, S.C. where she will once again rest beside her husband and best friend, Richard, at Quaker Cemetery. She grew up in Pelham, GA on her parent’s farm. Steve Augusta Godwin and Mary Catherine Young Godwin both deceased, raised daughters, Peggy Joyce Hopkins (deceased), Barbara Davis, Kitty Jane McKenzie and Steve Augusta Godwin, Jr. (deceased). Nieces and Nephews came and the family grew large and loving. Jay McKenzie (Gina), Todd McKenzie (Kathy), Bryan McKenzie, Janet McKenzie Dean (Chad), Judy Kay. Lewis (deceased), Sherolyn Eller (Mike), Anita Singletary (Roger), Dave Hopkins, (Cheryl), Sunny Alyson Barry and Gwenelle Hopkins. Barbara was an Army wife. Not only did she follow her soldier husband from post to post, he called her the “wind beneath his wings”, and she was. From post war Japan to walled West Berlin, she made any place “home” for her family. She was indeed a southern lady who could hostess any gathering with joy and dignity. She had a flair for colors and textures showcased by her jewelry making and flower arranging among so many other things.

Her faith was her foundation and she shared it freely especially through her commitment to the Gideon Auxiliary serving in many offices just as Richard served as a Gideon.
