Obituary of Anthony Willie Jones
CAMDEN – Funeral service for Anthony Willie “Tony” Jones, 73, will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Cantey Hill Baptist Church with burial to be held Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.
Mr. Jones passed away at MUSC Florence on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. Born in Greenwood, Mississippi., he was the son of the late Edd Jones and Winnie Mae Rosebur Jones. He served in the United States Army for 20 years where he became a Light WVEH Mechanic and retired as a Master Sergeant. After his military service, he worked for South Carolina DOT and the Kershaw County School District Bus Service where he was a Supervisor.
Mr. Jones was a Chicago Bulls and Chicago Bears fan. He enjoyed watching Westerns and spending time with family and friends. His military profession instilled a love that he would continue to enjoy later in life. So much so, that he loved collecting antique model cars.
Surviving are his wife, Lucinda Ann Kinley Jones; children, Beatrice Jones, Earlene Denise Jones, Anthony Jones, Jr., and Kareem Jones; bonus children, Kawaki Kinley, Ketura Matthews and Patrick Matthews, Jr.; sister, Cheryl Starks (Waymon); brothers, Kenneth Jones (Porsha) and James Jones (Jeanette); 15 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and a host of special nieces and nephews.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by daughter, Valeska Stigger; sisters, Betty J. Parks, Ernestine Turner, Eddie May Johnson, Earline Jones and brothers; John Earl Jones and Randy Jones, Sr.
