Obituary of Mike Chandler

John Michael “Mike” Chandler, 72, of Pelion, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024. Born in Florence, SC, he was the son of the late Cecil Wayne Chandler and Ivy Lloyd Hood and the husband of Nora “Tracy” Wildes-Chandler. Mike was a full-time family man who loved spending his time teaching his grandchildren about cars and mechanics. He enjoyed old western and martial arts movies and was also a skilled woodworker. Mike was an excellent caregiver to his beloved wife, Tracy, and was, above all, a wonderful husband, Dad, and Grandpa who loved his family and his Lord.

In addition to his wife, Mike is survived by his children, John Michael Chandler, Jr. (Nathalia), Monica Leigh Chandler (Ron Vacha), Jason Tye Wildes (Kelly Calvo-Wildes), and Christopher James Wildes (Kristina Isobe Wildes); grandchildren, Michael Abram Chandler, Jahnyah Meskel Wildes, James Kai Wildes, Nora Isobel Wildes, Chandler Lawrence Vacha, and Charlotte Vacha; and his siblings, Cecil Chandler and Robbie Hammond.

He was predeceased by the dad who raised him, Robert E. Hammond.

The family will hold a private service at a later date.
