Obituary of Kathy Spencer

RIDGEWAY – A service to celebrate the life of Kathryn Boyd “Kathy”: Spencer, 78, will be held on Thursday, January 25^th at 4:00 p.m. Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A private burial will be held in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens, Elgin.

Mrs. Spencer, wife of the late Eugene Nelson Lockaby, Jr., passed away at Prisma Health Richland on Saturday, January 20, 2024.  Born in Chicago, Ill., she was the daughter of the late William W. Boyd and Mary Temple Boyd.  She spent many years helping in the family business and serving as a wonderful mother to her two children. She loved the outdoors, especially fishing and being in the woods camping. Mostly she enjoyed serving others in Christ and made it her goal to see others happy.

Surviving are her daughter, Shellaine Reese “Shelly” Spencer of Inverness, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Nancy Spencer of Columbia, and her grandchildren, Reese Kaila Drew, Marin Elizabeth Drew, Mason Alexander Schmidt, Stephanie Nichols and Lynde Sharpe.  She was predeceased by her son, Ronald Shannon Spencer, and her sister Nancy Lynn Boyd Strom.
