Obituary of Israel Nelson, Jr

REMBERT – Funeral service for Israel Nelson, Jr., 80 will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Union Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 23, 2024 from 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.

Mr. Nelson, husband of the late Laura M. Nelson, passed away at home on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.  Born in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Israel Nelson Sr. and Magnolia Wells Nelson.  He retired as a heavy equipment operator.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, and farming.

Surviving are his children, Juliette Sumpter of Rembert, Israel Nelson III of Columbia, Isaac Nelson (Sherika) of Rembert and Brad Nelson (Sherita) of Rembert; sisters, Leila Nelson, and Jean Nelson; 19 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by a brother, Roosevelt Nelson.
