Obituary of Shirley Minnie Bergeron

Shirley Minnie Edwards Bergeron, 72, of Elgin, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. Born in Milford, DE, she was the daughter of the late Gordon and Alice Edwards and the wife of Paul Marcel Bergeron. Shirley worked as a merchandiser for Advantage Sales. She enjoyed reading and taking family vacations. Above all, Shirley cherished spending time with her family, especially her precious grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Shirley is survived by her children, Wilson Merchant (Christy) and Dawn Baker (Joseph); grandchildren, Amber Osle, Autumn Llewelyn, Sandra “Kai” Merchant, and Alicia Baker; great-grandchildren, Caleb Michael Merchant and Leland Thoedore Matthew Ginty; as well as her siblings, George Nabb (Linda), Gordon Haywood Edwards (Sheila), and Elizabeth Jane Burton (John).

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her grandson, Michael Anthony Merchant.

The family would also like to extend a special thank you to the Divers family for all of their love and support over the years.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service, beginning at 2:00pm.

The family requests that those in attendance “come as you are” and wear something purple or something with butterflies in honor of Shirley.
