Obituary of Ruth Tillie Anderson

LUGOFF- Ruth "Tillie" Anderson, 84, was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Sylvester Levy, Jr. and Pearl Jackson Levy. She was raised by her paternal grandparents, Sylvester and Matilda Levy. Ruth was married to the late Henry Anderson for 55 years until his passing in 2014. She was a member of Unity Untied Methodist Church, in Lugoff.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Vernetta, Henry Jr. (Patcenia), Patricia, Nathaniel, Keith, (Mary) and Sylvester (Amber); a sister, Dorothy Gerard; a brother, Kevin Clark; additional children, Jerry Fleming, Michael Wood, Myrtle Herrington (Jerry); 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; a special cousin, Lillian Martin; loving caregiver, Adell Bennett; and the Care Team at Karesh at Beechwood; the surviving members of The Willie Peay Community Singers; and a host of other relatives and friends.

    A funeral service to celebrate the life of Ruth “Tillie” Anderson will be held Friday at 10:30 am at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Unity United Methodist Church. The Rev. Andrew Thomas will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
