Obituary of Travis Jay Lucas

Travis Jay Lucas, 38, of Elgin, completed his earthly ministry and was met with his Savior’s open arms on Thursday, December 28, 2023. Born in West Columbia on September 22, 1985, he was the son of Bruce and Carla Lucas and the husband of Ashley Jean Lucas. Travis was a faithful member of Radiate Church in Columbia, where he also served as Executive Pastor. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina and was pursuing his master’s through Columbia International University. Filled with a passion for leadership and the ultimate servant’s heart, Travis would boldly proclaim that his life’s mission was to “move the frontlines forward for the Kingdom of God.” He never met a stranger, was a friend to everyone he met, and would always put others before himself. One of his favorite quotes was, “you are more than the task at hand.” Travis truly lit up every room he entered and made everyone he encountered feel like they mattered. He was an excellent cook and a gifted musician who enjoyed playing guitar, bass, and drums. He was also an avid Gamecock and Carolina Panthers fan. Travis liked being outdoors hiking and exploring the beauty of God’s creation. Above all, Travis was a loving and devoted husband, father, and follower of Christ.

In addition to his wife and parents, Travis is survived by his precious daughter, Hannah Jean Lucas; his brother, Justin Lucas; paternal grandfather, Harold Lucas; maternal grandfather, Leon Davis; his uncles, Randy Lucas (Dee) and Steven Davis (Wanda); and cousin, Bailee Croft.

Travis was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Annette Lucas; and maternal grandmother, Roberta Davis.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, December 31, 2023 at Radiate Church, 105 Sparkleberry Crossing Drive, Columbia, SC 29229, officiated by Pastor Brandon Goff. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1:30 – 2:30pm. Services will also be streamed to the Radiate Church Florence Campus, 3203 W.
