Martha Amelia “Marti” Hatcher, 64, of Elgin, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 25, 2023. Born on July 24, 1959, in Carson City, NV, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Josephine Long. With her father serving as a Chaplain in the US Navy, Martha was privileged to grow up around the world. She ultimately ended up calling South Carolina home, where she graduated from Spring Valley High School and Winthrop University, met the love of her life, and raised her family. Martha’s journey was marked by her unwavering strength, whether she was raising her daughter, volunteering, or battling life’s challenges. She was known for her generous heart, always extending a helping hand to those in need. Her presence brought comfort and confidence to everyone she met. She was truly a beautiful person, inside and out. A loving wife, mother, and a friend to many, Martha’s legacy of strength and love will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit lives on in the stories shared by her family and friends that she loved so dearly.

She is survived by her husband, Donnie Clay Hatcher; and her daughter, Rachel Amelia Hatcher.

In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her sisters, Rebecca Long and Lynn McFetridge.
