Obituary of Barbara Newman Proctor

YORK- A funeral service for Barbara Newman Proctor, 77, will be held Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Quaker Cemetery. The Rev. Derrick Proctor will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2-3 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Mrs. Proctor, wife of the late Johnny Proctor, passed away on November 20, 2023. Born in Camden, she was a daughter of the late Johnny W. and Gladys Sharpe Newman. Barbara was a member of Church in the Garden before moving to York. She enjoyed watching hummingbirds, being with friends, and spending time with her family.

    Surviving are her daughter, Donna Sergent of Chester; grandchildren, Matt Decker, Ashley Proctor, Justin Sergent, Dakota Proctor, Montana Proctor, Bree Proctor, Savannah Proctor, Jordan Proctor; sisters, Sadie Aldrich, Frances Newman, Shirley Newman; brothers, Butch Newman, Willis Newman; and great-grandchildren, Tripp Decker, Cheyenne Decker, and Cyrus Briggs. She was preceded in death by sons, Ricky Proctor, Kenneth Allan Proctor; and brothers, Walter Newman and the Rev. Larry Newman.
