Obituary of Clarence William Atkinson

A memorial service for Clarence William Atkinson, 73, will be celebrated on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Mt. Hebron Free Will Baptist Church. The Rev. Jack Cobb will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5-7 on Friday, November 10, 2023 at Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Mr. Atkinson passed away peacefully at Providence Hospital on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 surrounded by his wife and two daughters.

Born in Sumter, SC, he was the son of the late Clarence James and Dorothy Adams Atkinson.  He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Jan Atkinson of Bishopville; daughters Angie Floyd (Chad) of Camden, Rhonda Wolfe (Tim) of Chesnee, Chris Owen of Florida, 3 grandchildren, brother Mitch Atkinson (Florence) of Bishopville, sisters Libby Atkinson of Sumter, Deannie McClard (Tony) of Bishopville, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and many friends.

He was retired from DuPont where he was a dedicated employee for 40 years.  He was a faithful servant of Christ and a member of Mt. Hebron Free Will Baptist Church.  He was a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment and had a passion for his Country. He loved the outdoors; hunting, fishing, and gardening. He had a heart for helping others and was loved by many people. He was a Godly example to his wife, daughters, and family.
