Obituary of Robert W. "Bobby" Riley
Robert Wayne “Bobby” Riley, 77, of Elgin, passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2023. Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late Jason O. Riley, Sr. and Cordie “Sug” Hammond Riley and the husband of Sarah Branham Riley. Bobby was a longtime resident of Elgin and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Bobby was always active in his church, serving on ten mission trips to Nicaragua. He spent his working life in sales and sold everything from washing machines to tractors and agricultural equipment. He was also a member of the Gideons International, the Board of Directors for Kershaw County Farm Bureau, and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Above all, Bobby cherished his family and the time he spent with them. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
In addition to his loving wife, Bobby is survived by his children, Denise Riley Hansen, Brian Riley (Jen), and Donna Branham McClendon (Ken); grandchildren, Bailey Adamson (Michael), Maclane Riley, Sarah Rachel McClendon, Katherine McClendon, Conner Hansen, Claire Hansen, and Beckett Riley; great-grandchildren, Stella, Ridge, Reid, and Knox; siblings, Jacque McClintock (Jim) and Joy Paull (Ron); his sister-in-law, Diana Riley; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his brother, Jason O. “Jay” Riley, Jr.
