CAMDEN – A service to celebrate the life of Gene Autrey Rhodus, 75, will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Dr. Freddie Wilson will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Mr. Rhodus passed away on Monday, May 26, 2014. Born in Camden, he was the son of the late Clarence Hugene and Sallie West Rhodus. He served in the United States Air Force. He enjoyed the Flea market, listening to Blue Grass and Gospel music, and traveling to the mountains. Surviving are his children, Carol R. Wilkins of Camden, William Rhodus (Deborah) of Camden, Kelly Stanley of Camden, Michael Rhodus of Lexington, and Anne Clements of Camden; sister, Earline Hillstrom of Vacaville, Calif.; brother, Bobby Rhodus of Ladson, S.C.; grandchildren, Joshua David Wilkins, Andrew Aaron Wilkins, Sallie Grace Wilkins, Floyd Edward Stanley, Caleb Michael Rhodus, Hannah Elizabeth Rhodus, Cody Andrew Clements (Rebekah), Kady Rose Clements, and Megan Lynn Clements; great-grandson, Cade Andrew Clements; and his companion, Annie Threatt.
