Obituary of Gail Madry

Kure Beach, N.C. – A celebration of life service for Gail Ebbinhausen Madry, 77, will be held Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2-3 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

    Mrs. Madry, wife of the late Joseph Lee Madry, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023. Born in Englewood, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Elizabeth Ebbinhausen. A graduate of Campbell University, she obtained her Masters Degree in teaching from USC. She taught elementary school for over 30 years and retired from Lugoff Elementary. Mrs. Madry enjoyed writing “Granny Letters,” and poetry. She loved the beach and lighthouses. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

    Surviving are her son, Michael Madry (Cindy) of Lugoff; grandchildren, Christopher Madry, David Madry, Jacob Madry, Nicolas Madry, Denise Abstance; a sister-in-law, Glenda Ebbinhausen; and 5 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband of 52 years, she was predeceased by a son, Kevin Madry; a brother, David Ebbinhausen; and a great-grandson, Hayden Cash Madry.
