Obituary of Myrtle Jordan
CAMDEN – Funeral service for Myrtle Parker Jordan, 96, will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Camden. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Shriners Hospital for Children.
Mrs. Jordan, wife of the late James C. “Tippy” Jordan, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Thursday, September 21, 2023. Born in Lee County, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Amos and Beulah Outlaw Parker. She retired from Jordan Tax Service and was a member of Southside Baptist Church where she enjoyed being in the choir and singing hymns. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and canning.
Myrtle had an unshakeable faith in Jesus Christ which she always had at the center of her life. She loved her family fiercely and spent endless hours telling stories of her long life to her family. Mrs. Jordan had a kind and giving heart and loving manner. It was recently said of her “She was a true lady known for her charm and wit. Her smile said it all.”
Surviving are her children, Linda J. Parnell (Bobby), James C. Jordan Jr. (Beth), Brenda Gardner (John) and Bryan Jordan; grandchildren, Angie Guy (Lindsay), James R. West IV (Valerie) and Ryan Jordan (Melissa); and great-grandchildren, Margaret Guy, Emily Guy, James Guy, Edwin Guy, Camryn West, Zachary West, Sandler Jordan and Sawyer Jordan. She was predeceased by her son, Howard A. Jordan; brothers, Gilbert Parker, Herbert Parker and Leo Parker; and sister, Bessie Lee McElveen.
