Obituary of Donna Mae Thurston

Ft. Worth, TX – A memorial service for Donna Mae Thurston, 89, will be held at 5pm on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Powers Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 1hr prior to the service at the funeral home. She will be interred with her beloved husband, Charles Albert Thurston, in Minneapolis, MN at a later date.

Mrs. Thurston passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023. Born in Minneapolis, MN, on February 23, 1934, she was adopted as an infant and raised by the late Andrew Oscar Hansen and Nikoline “Lena” Kristina Christensen Hansen. She later moved to Fort Worth, TX in 1983, where she retired from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Surviving are her daughters, Kathryn “Kathy” Sams (Mead) and Marjorie “Margie” Thornton (Robert); grandchildren, Angela “Angie” Endres (Jason), Jennifer “Jenny” Gardner (Jay), Melissa Purrman, and Matthew Thornton; great-grandchildren, Haley Endres, Hayden Endres, Samantha Endres, William Endres, Victoria Endres, Ashlynn Gardner, Sabrina Gardner, Lucas Purrman, and Noah Blackwell; half-sisters, Judy Pfaff and Susan Stielow.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her biological mother, Helen Anderson; biological father, Robert Winters; half-sisters, Mary Edwards, LuAnn Koepke, Janet Hogan, and Joyce Neil.
