Obituary of Kathy Juanita Heber

LUGOFF- A celebration of life service for Kathy Juanita Heber, 59, will be held Saturday, September 2, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. The Rev. William Hairston will officiate.  

Mrs. Heber passed away at home on August 24, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones.  Kathy was born in Norfolk, Virginia and was the daughter of Rufus Spruill Sr. and the late Mary Alexander Spruill. Kathy lived many years in Hackensack NJ, before following her sister and best friend Lisa to relocate to South Carolina with her family.   

Kathy was a cosmetologist and loved her career, but her biggest joy in life was family!  She loved her children and her grandchildren with so much pride and passion.

Left to cherish her memory is her devoted husband of over 30 years, Jonathon Heber, her children Shayna Kennedy (Shawn) of Sumter, Dayna Johnson (Jarrell) of Columbia, Marie Kennedy (Montez) of Ridgeway, Ty’onna Spruill-Heber of Sumter, and Jonathon Spencer of Lugoff, her siblings, Rufus Spruill (Theresa), Maurice Spruill, Lisa Spruill Motley (Mack), and Tyrone Spruill (Dawn).  She is also survived by her beautiful grandchildren, Nyshera Spencer, Shadejia Kennedy, Shacara Clark, Alajah Kennedy, Khalik Kennedy, Laurrin Wood, Khamani Kennedy, Ryleigh Wood, Shaniah Kennedy, Karter Johnson, Knova Johnson, Tyler Mumford and her great-grandchildren; Aasim Addison, Giovani Mumford and Kinsleigh Mumford.  Lastly, she leaves behind many nieces and nephews along with other relatives. 

In addition to her mother Mary, she was preceded in death by her eldest brother, Warren Alexander and grandson Teydon Mumford.
